May 29, 2015, Meals on Wheels Ministry hosted a celebration for all the men and women who make our work possible here in East Texas. Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration features a buffet lunch provided by local restaurants and goodie bags made possible by our generous sponsors.
We estimate that our volunteers save the organization $750,000 each year in labor, fuel, and vehicle maintenance costs. That is the equivalent of almost 143,000 meals delivered right to the doors of homebound elderly and disabled clients, and a full year of meals, friendly visits and daily safety checks for over 560 clients a year! We truly couldn't operate without the help of our volunteers.
Special thanks to the restaurants who made our event so special:
Starbucks, Chili’s, Razoo’s, Sam’s Club Café, The Cotton Patch Café, Bruno’s, The Jalapeno Tree, and TGIFriday’s.
